Universal Studios Hollywood Giveaway!!!!

Posted by scarlett1973 on February 8, 2014 at 4:40 PM

I recently visited Universal Studios Hollywood with my family and I was pleased to learn that they offer healthy alternatieves.

The maps you get at the entrance mark the places that offer vegetarian and healthy options with the picture of an apple. As you may imagine, the fastfood restaurants have a smaller selection of these foods while the full-service restaurants will have more options.

We chose to eat at International Cafe. They serve gourmet salads, soups, an assorted selection of fruit cups, bottled water and fresh juices at a reasonable price.

This is what Executice Chef Erick Kopelow had to say about the food they serve...

*

"Few people realize that 80% of the food we serve is made from scratch and almost all of our breads, pastries and desserts are all made in house. WE are very different than most theme parks as we staff chefs throughout the park to insure our guest are getting the best consistent product available. Our International Café we make all the sandwiches each day from scratch. Our bakers come in at 10:00pm and make all the bread for the next day...so those sandwiches are made in the morning and shipped out to the park, keeping in mind these rolls had just come out of the oven a couple of hours prior. As you can see much of the park has construction and we are creating new food and dining locations as a plan within the very near future. We have added salads throughout the park but also know as much as we are concerned with proper dining habits many people come to Universal Studios to enjoy maybe something that may not be on the healthy options. It is a day to just have fun and not worry about the everyday life. Stay tuned for some new innovative things coming soon" Chef Eric Kopelow

Sooo nice to hear that a Family Theme park has healthy choice. We visit "another" place a lot and they sure don't have the same options.

Its so refreshing to see that an amusement park restaurant is catering to a growing population of health-conscious consumers and offering healthy alternatives. Cant wait to try their fresh sandwiches and juices. Good to know it wont break the bank either. I wish more entertainment outlets start doing this soon - at theaters, concerts, sporting events etc. Thank you Universal Studios and International Cafe for being an avant-garde in this category.
